There are a lot of procedures and things that need to be done to make sure google selects your site ahead of your competitors and thus ranks your site higher. Much of it can be very time consuming and even a bit boring and repetitive at times. Some of it is quite complex and technical.
Almost all SEO though is geared towards building the authority of your site. Making it more important.

And this is mainly done by building backlinks

Note: You could learn to do it yourself. If you have time its certainly worth doing. Just be aware that SEO isn’t an exact science and that there is a huge amount of mis-information and blatant lies around which only serve to make it look much more complicated than it is. Actually getting down to what really works and what doesn’t, isn’t easy and sometimes can only be done by trail and error and constant testing. Which is fine .. if you have the time. The good news is that I have been through this stage quite thoroughly – so you don’t have to. And I do mean quality key-phrases like web design Australia and even web design. This is in a field where there is a great deal of competition.
